Event Insurance: What to Know Before You Call

Your insurance policy is more than a monthly payment. Before you call your insurance company or shop for a new policy, know what you're paying for, what can affect your premium, and what questions to ask.

  • Event insurance can help protect you from certain financial risks associated with an event. Before you call, have these details available:

  • What type of event is it?

  • When and where is it being held?

  • How many people are expected?

  • Who is hosting or organizing the event?

  • Does the venue require proof of insurance?

  • Does the venue require specific liability limits?

  • Are vendors, caterers, entertainers, or other outside providers involved?

  • Will alcohol be served?

  • Are there any special activities or unusual risks involved?

One important tip

Ask the venue what insurance requirements they have before purchasing a policy.

Some venues require specific liability limits or want the venue listed as an additional insured. Knowing those requirements ahead of time can help you get the right coverage instead of having to redo it later.
